A Fact Sheet about the Parent Support Program
of the Kenai Public Health Center

What is the Parent Support Program? The Parent Support Program is a program of the Kenai Public Health Center designed to support families during pregnancy, after delivery and in caring for the baby after birth. It is available to families of the Central Kenai Peninsula. The Parent Support Program is a home visitation program under the supervision of a professional Public Health Nurse. The Parent Support Program is a joint Public Health Nurse and paraprofessional home visitor service.

What can the Parent Support Program do for me? The purpose of the Parent Support Program is to provide information about pregnancy and having a new baby, health care, and community resources. The Home Visitor will be someone you can count on!
What can the Parent Support Program do for my baby? Parents want to be able to provide a healthy happy and nurturing home for their baby. The Home Visitor can help you achieve that goal. We are also able to provide the babys ongoing growth and development measurements, and the Public Health Nurse can offer immunizations and well baby checkups in your home.
What about my husband/partner and other children? A new baby touches the entire family The Parent Support Program is a resource to help you meet the needs of your growing family.
When does this take place? The Home Visitor will visit with you in your home or in an alternate location that is mutually agreeable. Visits will be scheduled in advance at a time that is convenient for you.
How much does it cost? All Parent Support Program services are free
